Freya paints the same subject twice. Exercise one is a peony in a ceramic vase, built up dry and blended until it reads as a real oil painting. Exercise two is a glass vase painted wet, where the marks stay visible and the colours sit thick on the canvas.
A brush set you own is not a technique you have
Ninety-nine oil brushes is a lot of thumbnails to scroll past. Knowing which one gives a broken edge, which one blends by itself and which one leaves a ridge is what actually changes the painting.
So this is not a tour of the set. Freya paints two complete pieces and names the brush at every step: Oil Canvas for the ground, Oil Old for a messy background, Oil Dry 5 for dense colour with texture, Oil Blender to soften glass.
By the end you have the two paintings and — more usefully — a reason to reach for a particular brush instead of trying six.
The same subject, painted two opposite ways
Dry and wet are not settings. They are two different attitudes to a canvas, and the class does both so you can feel the difference.
Exercise 1 — Oil Dry, for realism
A peony in a ceramic vase. Canvas texture on Linear Burn, a background blended from three colours, then base, shadow and light on the vase and flower, checked against the reference photo the whole way.
Exercise 2 — Oil Wet, for impressionism
A glass vase and stems, painted with the wet set. No canvas texture, obvious brush marks, thick convex colour, and a background made by pulling groups of colour into each other.
Painting something transparent
Glass is where most digital oil paintings fall apart. Freya keeps the colour thin, reserves the thick strokes for shadows, and blurs them with the blender so you can still see through the vase.
Reference without a second screen
Actions → Canvas → Reference puts the photo beside your canvas inside Procreate, so you can keep checking values while you paint on one iPad.
Oil habits that transfer to any subject
The vase is the excuse. The layer order, the blending and the brush choices are the part you keep.
Build a canvas texture and set it to Linear Burn so the paint sits on something.
Name and order your layers — background, colour, shadow, light — so a painting stays editable.
Lay a base colour, darken by repeating strokes rather than picking a new swatch, then add light last.
Erase with the brush you painted with, so the edges stay in the same family.
Paint a shadow under the object, not just on it. It is what makes the whole thing sit on a surface.

No. This mini course teaches Freya's Oil Brush Set, which is a separate product. The 99 brushes are not included here, so buy the set as well if you don't already own it — the class names a specific brush at nearly every step and follows along much better with the real set.
