Every video shows Laura’s whole process, nothing important skipped: how she makes decisions and how she changes things when they don’t go as planned. Each module sketches a character, then colours the same one.

Tutorials show the answer. This shows the thinking.
Most character tutorials are sped up and tidied, so you see a finished face appear and none of the choices that got it there.
Here you watch the whole drawing in real time. Laura sketches, gets something wrong, fixes it and tells you why, which is the part you actually need when your own drawing stops working.
By the end you have a handful of finished characters for your portfolio or your feed, and a way of working you can reuse on the next one.
One simple process, six times over
Every module follows the same rhythm, so you always know where you are and what you are working on.
Sketch first, then colour
The first half of each module develops a character in line. The second half takes the same character through base colours, details and finishing.
Ideas that are not copies
Stylise a portrait from reference, find characters from anchor words, and draw one from your own mirror, so your work stops looking like your references.
Nothing important skipped
Long, real-time lessons, including an hour-long colour demonstration, so you can pause on any brushstroke and see exactly what changed.
Characters you will finish
Each one sketched and coloured with Laura.

A stylised portrait
Sketch a portrait from reference, explore variations, then three colour studies and a full colour demonstration.

A child character
A child portrait with body, clothing, hair and glasses, coloured and refined, plus a second child study.

Mia
An original character from concept to finish: face, poses and expressions, values, colour for face and clothing, and colour variations.

Draw with me, mistakes included
Hi, I'm Laura Dumitriu, a children's book illustrator and character designer. I studied painting in high school and art history at university, then spent a while in graphic design before I found illustration in 2019.
That year I opened an Instagram account and posted a drawing every day for a year. Draw-this-in-your-style challenges turned me towards portraits, and the daily practice is what grew both my drawing and my audience, until illustrating children's books and designing characters became my job.
My journey is not so different from yours. Post something today, then post again at the end of the course, and look at the two side by side.

What you take away
Six modules, each one a character from sketch to colour.
Stylise from reference: turn a photo into a portrait in your own style, then explore variations.
Find original ideas: use anchor words and your own mirror to invent characters instead of copying them.
Draw any age: adult faces of different shapes and a child character with body and clothing.
Colour with intent: base colours, values, facial and hair details and colour variations.
Think like an illustrator: understand why each choice is made, so you can make your own.
Why draw along on an iPad
A draw-along works best when you can try what you just saw and undo it straight away. In Procreate the sketch, the base colours and the details sit on separate layers, so you can redo one step without losing the others.
Laura’s brushes and palettes are included, so your screen looks like hers while you follow.

FAQs
Find answers to common questions about this and other Twotap courses
Any iPad from 2018 onward runs Procreate well. You don't need the newest model, just one that takes a pressure-sensitive Apple Pencil.
Yes, Procreate works best with a pressure-sensitive Apple Pencil (1st Gen, 2nd Gen, or Pro). The basic USB-C Pencil is less ideal for line weight and opacity.
The videos total 11 hours 5 minutes. Most Twotap students take longer than that because they stop and draw along, which is the point. Lifetime access means you set the pace.
It helps to know your way around Procreate first. This course is long, real-time demonstrations rather than tool lessons. If you are new, start with Creative Characters Made Easy, which teaches Procreate and the drawing foundations.
No. You can follow Laura stroke for stroke, or use her process on a character of your own. The anchor-word and mirror modules are built for exactly that.
You can watch on any device with a browser, but you'll want your iPad open to draw along. Many students watch a step, pause, then draw, or use a second screen for the video.
Every lesson has a comment section in Twotap where you can ask a question under the exact video you are on. You can also email support@twotap.art anytime.
No. This is a one-time purchase with lifetime access. Buy once, revisit forever, including updates we add to the course.
Yes. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If it isn't the right fit, reach out to support@twotap.art within 30 days and we'll take care of a full refund.
